The Winters Lecture, sponsored by the Wesley House, will be given Monday, November 9,
in the Elizabeth Hall auditorium at 8:00 p.m. This year's lecturer is the Reverend
Dr. James Dunn, member of the Executive Committe of Bread for the World. Because
the question of hunger and food distribution in the modern world is one that touches
most academic disciplines and touches us all as members of the human family, we offer
this as a program of wide interest and concern to the University community. Dr. Dunn
will be addressing the issue of world hunger and food resources as it relates to the
concern for peace.
The Faculty Senate will meet in regular session on Tuesday, November 10 in the Private
Dining Room of the CUB. Dinner (reservations required, ext. 237) will be served at
6:00 p.m.; the meeting begins at 6:45 p.m. All faculty are invited to attend.
Political Forum luncheons are held each Monday in the Private Dining Room (2nd Floor
CUB). Lunch is from 12:00 noon until 12:30, and the guest speaker from 12:30 to 1:15.
This week's speaker is Dr. Wood who will speak on "Reform as a Tool in Fighting World
Hunger."
Information is availabel on a wide range of research and seminar opportunities under
the Department of Transportation Program of University Research. Faculty interested
in the transportation industry structure, regulatory reform, and transportation technology are urged to contact Dean Strickland at extension 467. Proposals are due in
Washington on January 15.
The University's response to the report of the visiting committee of the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools is now on ."faculty reserve" in the library.
