As noted above, we will have Buckminster Fuller speaking on the campus Tuesday,
October 7 at 8:00 P.M. in Elizabeth Hall. This is an unusual opportunity for our
community to hear a man of such an international reputation. His vita includes
honorary degrees from over 39 institutions and academic appointments all over the
world in such areas as poetry, art and architecture. Please urge your classes to

The next regular meeting of the Faculty Senate will be held in the Private Dining Room
(CUB) on Tuesday, October 7, at 6:00 P.M. - 45 minutes earlier than usual because of
the scheduling of a lecture by Buckminster Fuller. The dinner will be at 5:30 P.M.
The position of Director of Personnel is being reestablished after a long period of
years. Mr. J. Wayne Hanks is assuming this responsibility effective October 1. He
will be responsible for the design and administration of the University personnel program for non-academic employees and will administer the benefit plans for all staff
members. Mr. Hanks was most recently Personnel Director for Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University on its western campus. Mr. Hanks will be assisting with personnel procedures
which several members of the staff have previously handled and he will be moving about
the campus to assist you in matters of personnel. He will temporarily be situated in
the Comptroller's area, Elizabeth Hall.
The Stetson Fall Blood Drive will take place on Monday & Tuesday, October 6-7, from
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Stetson Room of the CUB. Student co-chairmen are Sonia
Mori, Delta Delta Delta sorority and Scott Garrett, ROTC. To avoid the long lines,
make an appointment by calling Ext. 215.
A terminal in the Academic Computer Center is being reserved each Tuesday afternoon
from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for faculty briefings. Dr. Ezell will be available at
that time for discussions on the use of the system. The October 7th session will be
devoted to FORTRAN program implementation. A representative from Data General Corp.
will be on campus to demonstrate FORTRAN program execution on our system.
