HOLIDAY SCHEDULES: Please note that due to calendar this year's Christmas holiday period will not be standard: the holiday will be observed
from Noon, Wednesday, December 24, Thursday, December 25, and Friday,
December 26 (for this year only, the Christmas holiday will be for two
and one-half working days). New Year's Day will be observed on Thursday,
January 1. Departments and offices planning Christmas parties during
working hours are asked to schedule them Wednesday morning, December 24.

Upon the recommendation of the Professional Development Committee, I am
pleased to announce the availability of funds to pay for the travel of
faculty members who are reading papers at professional meetings. Requests
for such support must be approved by the appropriate dean who will transmit the request to my office. All approved requests will be granted as

The School of Business Administration co-hosted with the West Volusia
Committee of 100 a seminar on "The Role of Industrial Development in
Community Development." Dean Nylen moderated the sessions that featured
four speakers from industry and government. The speakers were heard by
45 community leaders from Volusia County.
Dr. Mike Boyd attended the Southern Finance Association meeting held in
Washington, D.C., November 5-7, in support of current research he is
undertaking in the area of capital budgeting practices among Florida-
based corporations.
The library hours will be extended during exam week. The hours are:
