The University will observe the Thanksgiving holidays Thursday and Friday,
November 22 and 23. Christmas holidays will be observed Monday and Tuesday,
December 24 and 25; and New Year's day will be observed on Tuesday, January 1,
1980. Administrative and academic offices will be closed.

Jane and I wish to thank the members of the Stetson community for their prayers
and other expressions of love and concern during the last two months. I was
terribly disappointed to be denied the opportunity to play Marryin' Sam in
"Li'l Abner," but grateful that the aneurysms were discovered in time. We are
also grateful to discover once again what a wonderful group of people we work

Dr. Brad Crain, Department of English, has been invited to read a paper at the
Comparative Literature Circle Conference on Literature and Film to meet in
January, 1980, at Florida State University. The conference theme is Fearful
Symmetry: Doubles and Doubling in Literature and Film; Dr. Crain's paper title
is "Echoes and Recollections: W.B. Yeats' Double Vision and The Winding Stair."
There is a problem with getting the Heart Screening Van on campus for faculty
and staff. The Van is in the repair shop for a major overhaul and will not be
available for closed clinics until the first part of 1980. The Health Dept.
has clinics for individual organizations but the employees have to go to the
Health Dept. for the cardiac screening. Please contact me at ext. 486 and let
me know if you would prefer to wait to have the van on campus or if you would
like to have a clinic at the Health Dept. , . ' . _„_,_,

The FEH Board of Directors has authorized FEH to offer to the public a new class
of small grants featuring greatly simplified procedures. The new grants, which
will be limited to a maximum of $500., can be applied for at any time, involve
only a single-sheet application form, and can be awarded within a few days of
receipt of application. The intent of the new grants is to reach a wider segment
of the public. The small grants are limited to three specific purposes:
1) Planning, 2) Public Broadcasting and 3) Dissemination. For more information
