Preaching Series - Dr. John R. Claypool

Dr. John R. Claypool, pastor of the Northminister Baptist Church, Jackson,
Mississippi, will begin the Preaching Series in Chapel on September 26 and
will continue at 10:00 a.m. through September 28. He is a native of Nashville,
Tennessee, and received his Th.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
and honorary doctorates from Georgetown College and Baylor University. This
past February he gave the Lyman Beecher Lectures on Preaching at the Yale
Divinity School and next February he will give the Theodore Adams Lectures on
Ministry at the Southeastern Baptist Seminary. Dr. Claypool is well-known as
one of the outstanding ministers in the Southern Baptist Convention. I urge
each of you to attend this series and to remind your classes of the importance
of this event in the life of our community.

Please note that the class schedule for the John Claypool Fall Preaching Series
will be modified in the same manner as that of the previous year so that
students and faculty may attend:
8:00 a.m. classes meet 8:00- 8:50 a.m.
9:25 a.m. classes meet 9:00- 9:50 a.m.
10:50 a.m. classes meet 11:00-12:05 a.m.
Mrs. Paul Geren (Elizabeth) is now living at 4 Ceder Drive, Hendersonville,
North Carolina 28739, and has asked that Stetson friends be advised of her
address. For further family information on Mrs. Geren and her daughters, contact the Alumni Office, Ext. 344.
STUDENTS, ADMINISTRATORS, FACULTY, STAFF, SPOUSES, ETC., ETC... Evaluations of
previous Winter Term Programs have indicated each year that more Self-Enrichment
Courses were needed. Please consider sharing your special interest, hobby, or
talent with a group of students by teaching a Self-Enrichment Course during
Winter Term '80. Call Ext. 312, September 26 so that we can discuss your idea,
present it to the Winter Term Committee, and list your course in the brochure.
Dr. John K. Schorr attended the recent annual meeting of the American Sociological Association in Boston where he participated in a discussion group with
other sociologists who have visited the People's Republic of China.
