The National Council of Community Mental Health Centers recently voted to
award Daytona's Human Resources Center a special commendation for excellence
in evaluation research. This evaluation program was designed by Dwaine Cochran,
John Schorr, Charles Vedder, and Joel Wright. It was implemented by Dwaine
and John. Dwaine and Dr. Leo Salter, HRC's director, have been invited to
receive the award in San Francisco in February.
Dr. Dan Hale, Department of Psychology, has been notified that the Hale-Fibel
Generalized Expectancy for Success Scale will be used in the textbook Adjustment and Growth: The Challenges of Life (Holt, Rinehart & Winston) to be
published in 1980.
A review by Karen Osborne, Department of English, of the novel Weep No More
My Brother recently appeared in The Denver Quarterly.
The Hatter Bookstore will again run a pre-Christmas Inventory Clearance Sale.
This year's sale will be held in the Bookstore itself, with fresh sales
merchandise added to the tables daily. With prices reduced up to 50%, this
is a great way to conveniently save money on Christmas shopping. The sale
will run the week of final exams, December 10-14, during the regular store hours.
University Operations During the Extended Student Holidays, Dec. 15 - Jan. 6:
To the extent possible University facilities will be closed during this
period. Buildings will be secured and unheated. Facilities with ongoing
operations will be open only during office hours and will be secured and unheated at other times. Your careful advance planning will be needed and appreciated, /s/ H. G. Edmondson
Federal Regulations on Heating:
To the extent possible within the physical limitations of individual
heating plants in several buildings, the University is observing the federally
required temperature limitation of 65 . You are encouraged to dress more
warmly and in a manner to accept temperature fluctuations within a day as inside temperature is affected by that outside. Please consult specifically with
the Maintenance Department in connection with any troublesome cold spots.
Supplemental electric heat must be specifically checked by Maintenance as to
safety and adequate power supply; such supplemental units are to be operated
only when a thermometer has been installed to monitor resulting room temperatures, /s/ H. G. Edmondson
