The deadline for turning in money for reservations to the Jiminy Cricket's
Christmas Party is Monday, November 26. Please stop by Dean Turner's office
and make your reservations as soon as possible.
Professors Tom Cook and Rob Brady read papers at the Florida Philosophical
Association meeting in Gainesville, November 2-4. Dr. Brady's paper is entitled "Why the Liar's Paradox Isn't Either", and Mr. Cook's is titled "Against
the A Priori Refutation of Determinism."
Despite frequent breakdowns of the Physics Department x-ray machine, Dr. T.A.
Lick and Dean Turner made sufficient progress in their research during the
last year to enable Dr. Lick to present a paper reporting on the results at
the recent meeting of the Southeastern Section of the American Physical Society,
at the University of Tennessee, at Chattanooga. Title of the paper was
"Tunneling Recombination Luminescence in MgO and MgAl-O..." Dean Turner has
just finished his term as chairman of that organization. /_/ Dr> Georqe Jenkins
Janis Kindred was commissioned by the Florida State Music Teachers' Association
to write a choral piece for their convention this fall. It was performed in
Tallahassee on November 4 during their convention and again on November 9 for
the fall workshop of the American Choral Director's Association.
The dinner and fall initiation of new members of Omicron Delta Kappa will be
held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, in the Private Dining Room of the
CUB. All associate members and wives are invited — $4.50 per person. For
reservations, please call Ext. 215.
The Fine Arts Committee of the Stetson Union Board is pleased to announce the
Christmas Crafts Carnival. This event will be held on November 25th and participants may make, display, or sell their crafts. There will be an organizational meeting for all those interested in participating on November 15th
at 7 p.m. in the Mini-Sub. For further information please contact Debbi Myers,
ext. 519.
The University Woman's Club Christmas Dinner has been changed to Dec. 1 because
of the conflicts with the Ohio State game and Disney World. It will be at
7 p.m. in the Stetson Room.
All faculty and staff are invited to attend the "Tuesday Night Edition of
Monday Night Football" sponsored by the Alumni Office on Tuesday, November 20,
at 7:30 p.m. in the Coffee House. Old black and white movies of Stetson football games will be shown, plus a color movie of campus life in 1951-52.
