I would like to say thanks to members of the faculty and administrative staff who participated in Convocation for enduring the heat. Everyone else seemed to at least be in
semi shade but those in academic regalia.
Thanks for your presence and making it a very meaningful program for our students.

William C. Johnson's article, "The Poetics of Indeterminacy: A Review and Critique
of The Renaissance Chaucer, " has appeared in Poetica: An International Journal of
Linguistics & Literary Criticism (Tokyo).
Mr. Daniel Moore has been elected Chairman of the Student Financial Aid Advisory
Council for the State of Florida. This council of nine members acts as an advisory
body for the State Department of Education on Financial Aid matters.
NOTICE TO DEPARTMENT HEADS: Pre-registration for the winter term and spring
semester is November 8, 9, 10. Spring schedules are due in the Registrar's Office on
October 1st. You will be receiving forms to submit your course offerings shortly.
Reminder to Faculty: We're still eager to get more suggestions for speakers, artists,
films, etc. for Winter Term. We'd like to schedule events that would coordinate with
what you're teaching, so we need suggestions from YOUI The sooner the better.
To Administration, Faculty, Staff: Would you be interested in directing a Self-Enrichment
Activity this Winter Term9 These are non-traditional one-hour activities graded Pass/NC.
These activities may vary from Wood-refinishing to Knitting, from Chess to Chinese
Cuisine. They inay be directed by a faculty member, or by a student or some other
appropriate person sponsored by a faculty member or the Winter Term Committee.
Each activity must be approved by the Winter Term Committee and is expected to be
challenging and worthwhile as well as fun. The student is expected to work 7 or 8 hours
a week for his hour's credit even though his classroom and lab may be a sailboat or a
kitchen. If you have an appropriate hobby or skill, won't you share your knowledge with
