Employment Reminder: The application of several regulations in connection with personnel
records and procedures makes it absolutely necessary that no commitments for the employment of personnel (other than teaching faculty) be made without full participation of the
Office of Vice President for Finance. This represents no change in basic policy but it
is emphasized that all matters of personnel appointment, employment, or compensation
must be approved in writing before commitments can be made to individual or prospective
employees. THIS INCLUDES ALL STUDENT EMPLOYMENT AS WELL. Thank you for
your understanding and cooperation.

It should be our practice to never use University letterhead stationery for correspondence
except for official University business. This will assist in making clear to the addressee,
or others seeing the correspondence, when the contents of the message originate in our
capacities as University staff members.
No particular incident on this campus gives occasion for this reminder. However, an
incident at another institution does suggest the importance of following this procedure.
Additionally, we should keep in mind the additional cost of letterhead paper and use it
only for external correspondence and for formal internal letters of contract, etc.
