NEW MAIL PROCEDURES: Due to the sharp increase in postage rates to be effective
after Christmas, additional mail procedures must be instituted. So that our postage
costs can be properly budgeted and controlled, ALL postage for University mailings
other than routine daily correspondence will be requisitioned and approved in advance.
This requirement will apply to all classes of mail, i.e. , student grades from the
Registrar's Office, account statements from the Comptroller, as well as "bulk mail"
from the Alumni Office.
I
Department heads and budget supervisors should immediately study their postage requirements for the period January through May 1967, and file a request with Mr. Edmondson's
office outlining requirements. This request will include the approximate date of the
mailing, the number of pieces, the class of postage, a description of the material and a
succinct justification for the mailing. A procedural statement will be given department
heads and supervisors together with a form on which to submit the request schedule.
