The next Faculty Senate meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 7, at 6:45 p.m. If you desire
to attend the dinner at 6:00, please contact Gary L. Maris, ext. 234, by Monday, December 6.
Dr. Borders will meet with the AAUP at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, December 5, in the Faculty Lounge
to discuss the construction of the University budget for next year. All faculty members are

The Faculty Discussion Group will meet Friday, December 10, at 12 noon in the Private Dining
Room. Mr. Gary Libby will present a lecture and slides on "Artistic Taste in Pre-Castro

"God and Evil: Putting the Problem to Rest" will be the topic Monday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m.,
when Dr. Philip Bennett, Associate Professor of Philosophy from State University of New York,

On Friday, December 10, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 210E, Professor Bruce Edwards from the University of Florida will present a talk to the Stetson Mathematics Club. His talk is entitled
"Hyperbolic Geometry" and will be strongly historical in nature.

Please note that the annual travelogue series sponsored by the Council on Human Relations
begins December 12, 1976. Information concerning programs and tickets may be obtained from
Dr. Maris, ext. 234.
Our Kindergarten will enter a float in the Christmas parade, Saturday, December 4. We hope
many of you will be able to attend and support our young students, parents and teachers.

Please announce to your classes the Harry L. Taylor Prize in the Humanities for 1976-1977.
The essay is to be based on C. P. Snow's thesis that the intellectual life of the Western
world is increasingly being split into two polar cultures which can hardly communicate with
each other -- the scientific culture and the literary (or humanistic) culture.
In the essay, the student is to consider the following questions:
1. Discuss Snow's thesis.
2. Evaluate the thesis.
3. State the implications of the thesis for education today.
The Taylor Prize is a $250 cash award to be given on Awards Day, May 1977. It is open
to any full-time undergraduate student at Stetson University. Any student desiring information should see one of the Committee members as soon as possible, but no later than February 7:
