IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL FACULTY: There will be a University Convocation"
to dedicate the Edmunds Activities Center on November 15 at 10:00 A.M. Classes
will be suspended from 9:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on that day. The line-of-march
will form in the hall inside the Center at 9:40 A.M. All faculty members are
expected to be present in full academic regalia. Anyone needing to rent regalia may
do so through the Bookstore. It is urged that all orders be placed immediately.
The Volusia County Division of the American Heart Association will have a van
on campus December 3 and December 10. This van will be equipped with cardiac
screening equipment. The tests included in the examination are electrocardiogram
(EKG), blood chemistry, and blood pressure. Each examination will be by appointment only and will require from 30 to 45 minutes. Should the demand be great
enough, an effort will be made to arrange for a repeat visit. This service is free
to all Stetson University faculty and staff. Appointments may be made by calling
Mrs. Janice Hess, R.N. , Extension 217, between 8:00 and 11:00 A.M.
The Education Department has been informed that the dissertation completed by
Ruth Arnold last spring at the University of Florida has been nominated for the
Kimball Wiles Award for the best dissertation in the Department of Special Education.
Her topic dealt with new techniques for teaching reading to children with learning
disabilities. Congratulations to Dr. Arnold.
