IMPORTANT EVENTS

REMINDER: Examinations are not to be given early except by special permission. Please
do not place your colleagues in an embarrassing situation by scheduling yours early.
Commencement exercises will be held on Sunday, June 2, in the Forest of Arden. Baccalaureate will be at 8:00 a, m. , the line-of-march forming at 7:30. Graduation will be at 7:00
p. m. , the line-of-march forming at 6:30. All faculty members are reminded that they are
expected to attend unless officially excused. In case of rain, both services will be held in
the new Activities Center.
Mr. Perry White will assume his duties as full-time Director of Student Activities as of
June 1, 1974. Mr. White has served as Assistant Director of Admissions for the past two
years. Prior to that time he served as Director of Student Activities at Mars Hill College.
He holds a Masters' Degree in Higher Education from the University of North Carolina. Mr.
White will be working with all aspects of student activities including the Artists and Lecturers
Committee. He will be working in the Division of Student Affairs.
Dr. Frank Glamser, Chairman of the Department of Sociology, informs us that all of the
graduating Sociology seniors who expressed a desire to attend graduate school next year and
made application have been accepted for further studies. Miss Tanya Klar will work on a
Master of Science Degree in Sociology at Iowa State University; Mr. Francisco Maldonado
will be pursuing a Master of Public Health Degree at the University of Massachusetts at
Amherst; and Mr. Robert Bushong will study for a Master of Social Work Degree at Florida
State University. _____
Janitorial and maid services will be curtailed and rescheduled during the summer period, as
has been our practice in the past. No personnel will be released from the payroll, but their
time will be directed toward general annual cleanup of facilities. Those people in areas
which will be closed with no service should now be familiar with that schedule. Your coopera-

SWIMMING POOL: - „rmg examination week regular pool hours cannot be maintained by our
student lifeguards. If you or your family desire to use the pool please refer to revised (and
shortened) schedule posted at the pool or call Extension 459. The swimming pool will be
cxor.ed during the break between spring semester and summer session opening Monday,
