A Memorial Service for Dr. Ernest Colwell will be held Sunday, September 22, at
3:00 P.M. in Trinity Methodist Church
Mr. Peter Newell of Data Systems and Services, Inc. will speak on "Math in Business"
at the Math Seminar, Tuesday, 2:15 P.M., 201E. Dr. Elizabeth Magarian of the
Mathematics Department will discuss Game Theory and Decision Theory on Thursday,
2:15 P.M., 201E. All are welcome.
Dr. Gareth Williams of the Mathematics Department was awarded the annual Science
Award at the National Eisteddfod of Wales this summer for his paper "Y Ddwy
Ddamcaniaeth Gymharoldeb". (The two theories of relativity. )

The regular meetings of the Faculty Senate for 1974-75 are scheduled for September 17,
October 1, November 5, December 3, January 7, February 4, March 4, March 27, and
April 1. These meetings will be held at 6:45 P. M. in the Private Dining Room of the
Carlton Union Building and are open to any faculty member.
Stetson may nominate two students for Danforth Followships, for future college teachers
or administrators. Possible nominees should use special application forms, before
October 1, for the graduate record exam of 26 October. Send possible nominees to
Dr. C. Carter Colwell, English Department.
Marshall Scholarships are for two years of study at British University. Men and
women with "distinction of intellect and character as evidenced both by their scholastic
attainments and by their other activities and achievements" should apply well before
22 October. For further information, see C. Carter Colwell, English Department.
Rhodes Scholarships are open for application, early in October, from unmarried males
of "character and intellect, " with a very much subsidiary interest in sports. Application
should be made early in October. Send possible candidates to C. Carter Colwell, English
Department, Box 1293. The trustees would like to accept applications from women, but
cannot until British Parliament takes appropriate action.
