The Computer Terminal Committee (Dr. Settgast, Dr. Ludvigh, Mrs. Tiffany) is planning a
series of faculty presentations this year to explain the various programs and facilities which are
available through our terminal hookup with the University of Florida. The first of these will be
a demonstration of the Random Test Item Generator and is scheduled for Wednesday, October
17, at 3:30 p. m. in,Room 213 of the Carlton Union Building. The basic features of this
program are as follows;
1. The computer randomly selects test items from a previously
arranged list, prints them on standard or legal paper according
to categories, defines direction, spaces automatically, provides
margins, and numbers pages. The finished product is a complete
test ready for duplication. As the program is rerun, other tests
may be printed with the same format, but different questions.
2. No programming knowledge is needed to operate the program. It
is highly verbal, so that the instructor simply inputs the test items
and directions.
3. The program may be of interest to those who teach basic courses in
any area, departments which give placement or exemption tests, or
any instructor of a course in which the material covered and tested
is similar from one semester to the next.
The demonstration should take no more than 30 - 40 minutes, and if you are not able to be
present at the scheduled time, feel free to contact Dr. Settgast or Mr. Don Arnold for a
private session.
