Budgets 1974-75! Departmental Supervisors may pick up their budgets for the Fiscal Year
1974-75 from M. Keese Perry, Comptroller.
To All Faculty Members: Stetson University's long awaited Activity Center (Physical
Education Building) is about to become a reality. Expected completion is approximately
May 15. Any University Organization may RESERVE the building starting June 1 by
contacting Roger Dorio, Extension 268, in Hulley Gymnasium.
The Southeastern American Studies Association met on the Stetson campus, beginning at
4:00 p. m. , Thursday, February 28, and ending at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 2.
Eighty-four persons registered for the conference including 52 faculty members from colleges
and universities in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and
Florida, and students from Stetson and other colleges.
The conference was opened by address by Dr. Robert Spiller, nationally renowned scholar of
American literature. This was co-sponsored by the Stetson Artists and Lecturers Committee.
Dr. Gerald Critoph was the program chairman. Dr. John Hague, Dr. Ann Morris, and
Mr. Robert Lerfald participated in the conference. Two former Stetson students participated:
Mr. Bruce Lohof, who teaches at the University of Miami, and Mr. James Lea, who is a
museum fellow with the National American Studies Faculty. Dr. Gerald Critoph was elected
President of the Southeastern American Studies Association for 1974-1976.
Mr. Fred Messersmith contributed significantly to the success of the conference by
supervising the mounting and arrangement in the Stetson Room of 39 Everglades paintings
by Gladys Kashdin of the University of South Florida. The paintings will be in the Sampson
Hall gallery during the month of March.
