A number of complaints from students and faculty have been registered with the administration
concerning faculty members who give final examinations during class time of the last week of
the session. President Johns requests, therefore, that examinations be given in the examination
period only and that no one administer examinations before that time.
Reminder: Thursday, May 24, 8:00 a. m. , is the deadline for senior grades to be in the
Registrar's office. It would be most helpful if your senior grades could be submitted Wednesday
afternoon, if possible. Your cooperation in this matter is earnestly solicited. Please do not
leave town before these grades are in the Registrar's hands. Thank you.
We have completed the tabulations on the results of the birthday dinner given for Chancellor
J. Ollie Edmunds. A total of 381 volumes were given by faculty members to be added to the
J. Ollie Edmunds Collection. The amount of $376.40 was received to be added to the J. Ollie
Edmunds Fund for the purchase of books. We would like to thank again all of the people who
contributed to this fund as a birthday gift for our Chancellor.
The University Awards Assembly will be held Monday, May 14, at 10:00 a. m. All organizations and departments who have awards to present to students should submit the name of
the award and the recipient to the Dean of Men's Office as soon as possible. It is the
responsibility of the department or organization giving the award to see to it that the recipient
is at the assembly.
Dr. Fletcher Srygley has an article published in the April issue of the The American Journal
of Physics entitled "A Model to Demonstrate the Effects of Heat on Bond Formation. " Congratulations are in order.
TO OUR SMOKING FRIENDS: A small number of our faculty and administration are smoking
in prohibited areas in our academic buildings. A double standard makes it difficult, if not
impossible, to enforce the no smoking rule for students in the same building. We implore
you again to please rigidly observe No Smoking Areas.
