University Group Life and Major Medical Plan: An announcement has been sent to you regarding
major revisions in the University group insurance program which effective March 16, 1973, wjH
be underwritten by the Prudential Insurance Company of America. We invite your careful
attention to the announcement memorandum and to the more detailed brochure which is being
prepared and will be furnished to you later. We express special appreciation to the insurance
committee of the Faculty Senate, Dr. William Anderson, Chairman, Dr. Robert Fox, and
Dr. Keith Hansen for their concerned assistance in evaluating and developing the program
revisions.
Students interested in participating in the Washington Semester Program of the American
University during the Fall of 1973 should contact Dr. Bailey in the Political Science Department
for further information. The nominees should have at least a 1.5 grade point average and
should have completed a basic course in American National Government or International
Relations. Participants in the program may choose one of four areas in which they will engage
in seminar discussions, research, and an internship: urban affairs, politics of the developing
countries, American foreign policy and American politics.
Faculty Senate Business:
At its regular meeting on March 6, the Faculty Senate heard a proposal by two students who
plan to operate a book co-operative for the purpose of selling new textbooks.
Senator Morris announced that Dr. Charles Andrews has resigned from the Senate and that the
Division of Social Sciences has elected Dr. Malcolm Wynn to fill out Dr. Andrews' term. Dr.
Edwin Coolidge was elected as Vice-Chairman of the Senate to replace Dr. Andrews. Dr. Beiler
was appointed to replace Dr. Andrews as Chairman of the Welfare Committee, and Dr. Wynn was|
also asked to serve on that Committee.
A list of recommendations concerning the faculty-adviser program was approved for forwarding
to the deans of the DeLand Campus.
All members of the Stetson Community are invited to participate in the Passover Seder
(religious service and evening meal) which will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p. m. , Monday,
April 23, in the First Baptist Church of DeLand. Cantor Michael Goodman of the Temple
Shalom, Deltona, and Jewish students of Stetson University will lead the service. Reservations
(50c1 per ticket) may be made through Mr. Mabry's office.
