There will be a memorial service in honor of Dr. Huber William Hurt at 10:45 a. m. ,
Wednesday, October 25, in Elizabeth Hall Auditorium. Everyone is cordially invited
to attend. Dr. Hurt served Stetson well during the years 1948-1955 as Professor of
Educ.ation, Director of Guidance, and Director of Admissions.
The week of October 22-28 will be Green Feather Week. There will be activities each
evening during the week. We invite every faculty member to come and bring his family.
Also, please contribute to this worthy cause. Let's show our students that we support them.
Danforth nominations close November 1. Stetson may nominate two prospective college
teachers to this highly competitive and highly remunerative national scholarship competition.
To date, no student has asked Dr. C. C. Colwell, Danforth Liason Officer, that he be
considered for nomination. Please refer any qualified students to him in the English
Departme nt. '
Dr. C. Carter Colwell's article "Literary Criticism and Process Philosophy: Blackmur,
Sartre, Brooks, and Whitehead, " is due to come out in Volume II, #1, of Process Studies ,
which is published quarterly at the School of Theology at Claremont, Claremont, California.
i'rofi-s.sor William Johnson of the English Department read a paper this past weekend on
Chaucer entitled, "Miracles in the Man of Law's Tale, " at the Rocky Mountain Modern
Language Association in Tucson, Arizona.
The Student Affairs Committee would like to invite all faculty members to its meeting of
October 26. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the very vital issue of student-
faculty relationships on the Stetson campus. There is a feeling on the part of both students
and faculty -nembers that this aspect of our school is not realized to its fullest potential. The
meeting will oe held at 3:30 p. m. in Room 205 of the Carlton Union Building. We hope you
can attend.
