Faculty Meetings for 1972-1973 are scheduled to be held as follows: November 9; December 7;
March 1; April 1 2; May 17. These meetings will be held at 7:30 p. m. , in Davis Ha 1 i ,,
Please advise seniors with high grade averages who plan on college teaching as a career to
contact Dr. Carter Colwell about possible nomination for a Danforth scholarship. We may
nominate two students for this highly competitive renewable fellowship.
Dr. Margaret W. Wood spent a week during the latter part of August in Washington D. C. as a
consultant to the Federal Judicial System. She was involved in putting in-service training
materials together as well as in the development of guidelines for the more efficient and
effective preparation of courses of study.
In the spring Dr. Wood conducted a three-day workshop at American University on accountability
in the classroom and evaluation for the purpose of improving instruction. The supervisory staff
in Montgomery County, Maryland » and selected staff members of the College of Education at
American University were participants.
Thirty-two Rhodes Scholarships, for study at Oxford, are awarded each year to unmarried male
citizens of the United States, aged 18-24. No Stetson student has ever won one (I remember two
applications), but there has to be a first (if there are to be any). Application blanks and information are available from Dr. C. C. Colwell, English Department. With less than one per
state, competition is very stiff.
Faculty Advisers: Please return all check sheets and evaluation sheets to the Registrar's
Office. (A special "thank you" to those of you who have already done this. )
The chairman of the Faculty Senate, on behalf of the Traffic Department, wishes to thank the
faculty and staff for their promptness in registering their cars this year and to encourage the
few who have not yet sent in their registration card and fee to do so as soon as possible. The
registration fee for University employees is $3. 00 for those with a. salary less than $5, 000. 00,
and $5. 00 for those with a salary of more than $5, 000. 00. If a new or second car is registered
