Dr, Martin Cupery of the duPont Corporation and Stetson Chemistry Department will address
the American Chemical Society Orlando section at 8:00 p. m. on Monday, February 28, in Sage
Hall. His subject will be "Pathways of Progress in Industry"; the presentation will be nontechnical and of general interest; the public is cordially invited to attend.
A team of four Stetson University students tied for firs : pace in. the 1972 Southeastern Invitational College Bowl, held at Berry College, Georgia, on February 18 and 19. They lost
the tie-breaking runoff to Georgia Southwestern College. Richard Stewart of DeLand was the
team captain. Other members were Sharon Schleif, Lynnett McCormick, and Russell Miller.
Dr. Gerald E. Critoph, Professor of American Studies at Stetson, travelled with the team as
code r. "*' competition was run similarly to the College Bowl on television. Ten teams from
f >. y -olleges in the southeast participated. Bonnie Holloway, Stetson's Phi Society
p .ft i lade the arrangements for the University's representatives.
Dr. Snedeker, of the Department of Speech and Theatre, announces that on February 21, Stetson
hosted 115 Speech Pathologists from around the state. Included was Mrs. Sara Conlon of the
State Office of Education. Guest speaker was Dr. Dean Williams of the University of Iowa, The
subject matter discussed was "Stuttering Therapy in the Public School".
Several hundred slides of architecture are missing from the cabinet in Mrs. Virginia Giffin's
office. Please contact C. Carter Colwell if you know of their whereabouts, extension 330 or 246.
A REMINDER TO ALL LIBERAL ARTS FACULTY MEMBERS: Please turn in your schedule
cards to Dean Chauvin's office as soon as possible, if you have not already done so.
The Stetson Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Richard Feasel, conductor, will give a concert in
Elizabeth Hall at 8:00 p. m. on Tuesday, February 29. The program will feature Andrea
Andonian, mezzo soprano, as student soloist, and four student conductors: Jerry Gowen,
Darcie Kerr, Roger Green, and Tim Hicks.
The following students were absent from classes Friday, February 25, attending a debate
tournament at Citadel: Bob Bugg, Anne Insley, Mark Cleeland, Randy Klein, Bob Manuel,
John Fleming, Deborah Stockes, Jim Wanless, Pete Hooper, Cindy Horton, Linda Pastor,
and Bill Haul.
