The Eliot Allen Memorial Fund for the purchase of library books in honor of Dean Allen is
being established. All who wish to contribute are requested to send their contributions to
Dr. Ethel Colbrunn, Box 1273. Checks should be made payable to Stetson University and
marked "For the Eliot Allen Memorial Fund. "
At the December meeting of the American Studies Association, Dr. John Hague was elected
Vice-President of the Association. This is an honor, indeed, and we extend our congratulations
to Dr. Hague. _____________-________________^
John A. Hague moderated a joint session of the American Studies Association and the Modern
Language Association on the subject of "Child-rearing Practices in American Literature" in
Chicago on December 27.
Gerald E. Critoph chaired the ASA session at the American Historical Association meeting in
New York on December 28 entitled "Religion and American Social Issues. "
Dr. Theodore Beiler has been reappointed by Dr. Max Tishler, President of the American
Chemical Society, to the Council Standing Committee on Program Review, with the term
ending December 31, 1973. Our congratulations to Dr. Beiler for his appointment to a very
important committee.
Dr. Evans Johnson's review of Willard Gatewood's Theodore Roosevelt and the Art of
Controversy is appearing in the current issue of the Journal of Mississippi History.
Mr. L. Hann, our new postmaster, has requested that in order to insure correct handling, all
campus mail carry the correct post office box number.
Mr. Marvin Hurdle, Director of the Woodruff Wildlife Refuge, recently donated the 1965 to 1971
volumes of the Journal of Forestry to the Department of Biology. These volumes will be
particularly valuable to our students who plan to enter the profession of forestry.
