Dr. Eliot D. Allen
Elizabeth Hall Auditorium
The Stetson Community was saddened to learn of the death of Eliot D. Allen, who passed away
on December 8 following a brief illness. An outstanding educator, colleague, and friend, loved
and respected by all who had the good fortune to know him,, Dr. Allen will be sorely missed,
although a large part of him will always remain on the Stetson campus. A chapel service in
his memory will be held in the Elizabeth Hall Auditorium on Wednesday, December 15, at
4:00 p. m. Dr. Rollin Armour will officiate. All are invited to attend. Plans for a
memorial fund in Dr. Allen's honor are being formulated. Further information concerning
this matter will be forthcoming.
A.Teacher For All Seasons, the biography of Ray V. Sowers by Dan Davis and Mike Duclos ,
has recently been published. A reception honoring the principals responsible for this book
will be held Sunday afternoon December 12 from 1:00 -4:00 p. m. in the Faculty Lounge.
Kappa Delta Pi, the Education honorary, is sponsoring this affair.
Dr. Elsie Minter of the Department of Foreign Languages was elected this week to serve as
South Atlantic Representative to the Delegate Assembly of the Modern Language Association.
She will attend the annual meeting in Chicago at the end of December.
At the State Convention of the Florida Association of Health, Physical Education and
Recreation held in Palm Beach last weekend, Lucy McDaniel was elected to the position
of Chairman-Elect of the University Section. She will be the first woman to serve in this
capacity. She was appointed also to serve as Faculty Adviser for the Student Section of
the FAHPER.
