Dr. Keith Hansen and two biology majors, Mr. Ned Ruby and Mr. Robert Thompson are
co-authors of an article "Trophic Relationships in the Water Hyacinth Community" published
this past week in the Quarterly Journal of the Florida Academy of Sciences. The work was
carried out under the auspices of the COSIP Summer Research Program.
The Environmental Concern Organization (ECO) of Stetson is sponsoring a waste paper drive
in DeLand this weekend. Please bring old newspapers (no magazines) to the Pablix Parking
lot Sunday afternoon between 12 noon and 6:00 p. m. We will appreciate it if you will tie them
in bundles beforehand, but papers will be accepted bundled or not.
Mr. Fred Messersmith and Mr. Robert Johnson are announcing the opening of their show
Monday, December 6, at 8:00 p. m. The Madrigal singers will perform and refreshments
will be served. Everyone is cordially invited. ^
The following students were in Miami on Tuesday, November 23, for the purpose of attending
an alumni meeting: Bob Bugg and Elizabeth Swope.
Mr. Gregory Maxwell is the recipient of the Annual Junior Award of the Florida Philosophical
Association for 1971. We extend our congratulations to him. Mr. Maxwell won this honor
in competition with other undergraduate students of philosophy in the State of Florida. His
paper, entitled "On the Epistemological Problem of 'Certainty', " was read before the
Association. We wish to thank Dr. Loftin for his excellent work as Vice-President for the
organization.
