Pre-registration for Summer and Fall will be May 3, 4, and 5.
Students expecting to graduate in August or December of 1972, and February or June of 1973,
should file application in the Registrar's Office as soon as possible.
We wish to congratulate Dr. C. C. Colwell upon the publication by G. P. Putnam's Sons of his
second book, The Tradition of British Literature.
To All Department Chairmen and Budget Supervisors: To provide for a more orderly
completion of the year, the Purchasing Department is being instructed ; close the writing
of 1971-72 purchase orders on May 1. This will allow up to a month fo- he shipping/delivering/
billing cycle of the vendors and insure that all items you wish charged against the closing
budget will be received from the vendor in time for this to be done.
You will want to arrange any necessary remaining purchases immediately. (Should there bv-
any unforeseeable emergencies, such as equipment failure, special arrangements will ha\ -
to be provided. )
The end of the year is rapidly approaching and this is also a word of appreciation for your part
individually in thinking of the financial best interests of the total program. With your usual
careful attention and full cooperation our budget performance for expenditures is generally
highly satisfactory. For those areas of the budget where there are problems for the reminder
of the year, I am sure that you will exert unusual diligence and even more careful supervision.
Please remember -- no 1971-72 purchases to be initiated after May 1.

Because of his physical condition and his son's desire to return to college, Johnny Mor-in has
been unable to find anyone to run his service station. He has, therefore, decideH to close it.
He was very anxious that this situation be reported in the faculty bulletin so that h'■; custo ners
would understand that it was his decision to close the station and not Standard Oil's
