APPRECIATION SUPPER FOR HAROLD AND CAROLYN: A covered dish supper to honor
Harold and Carolyn Schultz, who will leave in June for their new posts as President and
First Lady of Bethel College, will be held at the home of Betty and Evans Johnson, 722
North Arlington Avenue, 6:00 p.m. , Thursday, April 29. Faculty and staff are invited.
Reservations may be made by calling Mrs. Martin at 235 during the day, or Betty Johnson
at 734-7630 after 5:00 p.m. prior to April 27.
A new second edition of Dr. Schultz's HISTORY OF ENGLAND was released by Barnes and
Noble Publishers last week. The new edition has a face-lifting, up-to-date bibliography,
and ^elisions and additions bringing the narrative up to 1971. It is also more expensive!
Dr. Leo Snedeker of the Speech and Theatre Department evaluated and advised during the
spring break nine Head-Start Units in two counties surrounding Hendersonville, North
Carolina relative to the language aspects of their program.
Mr. Bruce Griffiths attended the Southern Speech Association convention in New Orleans
April 8, 9, and 10. He participated on the convention's film panel.
The University of Michigan has awarded Larry Densmore, Stetson's Woodrow Wilson winner
this /fâ a i llowship to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics beginning this fall. The grant provides full tuition plus a $2000 stipend for the academic year. Michigan is ranked eighth
among all Ph.D. -granting economics departments in the U.S. (Larry turned down SIX money
offers from other good schools. )
Senior student Kei-Fung Lau has accepted a $5000 grant to do graduate work in physics at
California Institute of Technology. Congratulations to him and to us !
There will be a debate tournament held at Georgia Southern College from April 23-25. The
following students will be absent from classes on Friday, April 23 to participate in this event:
Sharon Beasley, Bob Bugg, Chobee Ebbets, Jerry Pritchard, Linda Bredin, Tammie Williams,
