Mr. Ronald Baugh was elected acting chairman at the Florida Intercollegiate Forensic Association. The position is that of coordinating the forensic programs in the 29 State and Private
Colleges.
A copy of Stetson's Reply to the Major Recommendations of the Visiting Committee for the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges is available at the
circulation desk for reading in the duPont-Ball Library.
An impressive study by Stetson's Dr. Kenneth G. Everett and Dr. D. A. Skoog of Stanford
University has appeared in the October issue of Analytical Chemistry, entitled "Study of the
Uncatalyzed Oxidation of Arsenic (III) by Cerium (IV) in Perchloric Acid Medium. " Readers
may find it in the Science Library in Sage Hall. Anal. Chem. 43, 1541-47 (1971)
Dr. Beiler is serving as a member of the American Chemical Society Committee on Program
Review and liaison with the Committee on Divisional Activities.
The Accounting Department of the School of Business Administration has received a grant of
$2,106 from the R. Warner Ring Educational Foundation. The grant is to be used to provide a
$1,250 fellowship for Mr. Leonard E. Cutcher, graduate student ki Accounting, and $856 for
the purchase of library books for the Accounting Department.
John Howard Griffin will be on the Stetson campus from 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 18 to 3:00
Tuesday, October 19. He is the author of the novel Black Like Me and several other books.
His formal address will be given at 8:00 p.m. Monday in Elizabeth Hall Auditorium entitled
"The Latest in Race Relations". The Artists and Lecturers Committee hope that various
student and faculty groups will take advantage of his presence on campus for informal
gatherings.
