Danforth Graduate Fellowships, for prospective teachers with excellent academic records
and a commitment to religious and/or philosophical values, offer a substantial renewable
annual stipend. Please advise any seniors you think might be candidates to contact Dr.
C. Carter Colwell, English Department. No student with a grade average below 2. 3 has
yet made the semi-finals. A number of students graduating with honors have been turned
down.
Dr. Robert W. Loftin has an article appearing in the Spring, 1971, issue of the Southern
Journal of Philosophy. The article is entitled "Discussion: Eddins on the Covering-Law
Model. "
All departments are reminded that requisitions for purchases, payroll, and expense checks
are directed to the Office of the Business Manager. For clarification, may we quote from
the Policy Manual: "University checks will be written only on a scheduled basis. No provision is made for checks to be prepared on other schedules. Requests will be received in
the Office of the Business Manager and distributed as follows :Requisitions in by 3:30 p.m. ,
Monday will be ready by 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Requisitions in by 3:30 p.m., Thursday
will be ready by 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday. (Checks to be picked up will be at the reception desk,
Comptroller's Office). This represents no change in procedure.
TO ALL ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY METHODS PROFESSORS: Please make the following announcement to your classes: All prospective spring 1971 interns are required to attend
a meeting on Thursday, September 16 or Friday, September 17 in the Intern Lab at 3:30 p.m.
Interns will receive application forms to fill out to start processing for next semester. The
deadline for returning these forms will be October 8.
REMINDER: All departments should have submitted Winter Term schedules before this date.
If your department has not done so, will you kindly get your schedule to us as soon as possible?
The first meeting of the Faculty Senate for the 1971-72 academic year will be held in the Private
Dining Room of the Carlton Union Building Tuesday, September 14, 1971 at 6:45 p.m. Senate
meetings are open to the faculty.
