Attention Winter Term Project Directors ! Mr. Banks, Director of International Programs,
has requested that the following information concerning degree credit for foreign travel and
study be circulated to participatants to whom it may apply:
Southern Association standards limit degree credit for foreign study
and travel to one-fourth of the total hours required for a degree. In the
case of Stetson, this means that students may earn no more than 32 hours degree
credit in foreign study.
A student who has spent his junior year abroad has earned 32 hours and thus
could not count as degree credit the five hours earned in a winter term project
abroad.
However, Dean Chauvin has agreed that such students may use a winter term
abroad as a senior project when given by his department and supervised with
the same criteria as an independent study. In this case five hours of degree
credit would be granted.
