Mr. Gary Noffke, instructor of crafts at Stetson University, has been awarded $100. 00
for his sterling silver goblet in the 20th Annual Florida Craftsmen Exhibit. The award
was presented to Mr. Noffke at the opening of the exhibit which is being held at the
Sarasota Art Association - Civic Center from November 21 through December 17. This
is the second time a silver goblet has won an award for Mr. Noffke. Last spring he
received a purchase award at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Professors Srygley and Lick attended the National meeting of the American Physical
Society at New Orleans November 23 - 25. Dr. Lick presented a paper authored jointly
with Dr. Srygley and Dr. Hughes. Title of this paper was "ESR Investigation of X-
radiation Damage to Single Crystals of Ba(H2P04)2. " They were accompanied by two
senior physics students, Marvin Vollum and Kei-Fung Lau. Kei gave a paper to the
Student Section of that meeting. The title was MESR Studies of Radiation Damage in Single
Crystals of Calcium Phosphate. •* Both of these papers grew out of winter term studies and
COSIP supported summer research activities.
Dr. Gary Maris has just received a copy of DeLege Pactorum: Essays in Honor of Robert
bert Wilson, 1970, published by Duke University Press, in which he has a chapter
entitled "International Leasehold Arrangements."
PROCEDURE FOR ENTERTAINING UNIVERSITY GUESTS: On occasion, representatives
of the University have made direct arrangements for special restaurant services asking
that the charges be billed to Stetson University. The University does not maintain accounts
with motels and restaurants, and such arrangements must be authorized in advance through
the Business Manager's office so that a purchase order may be written. Please use this
procedure should you at any time be responsible for entertaining of University guests.
LONG DISTANCE CALLS ON WATS LINE: In order to better serve the needs of the
University and make Wats line service available without long waits, please carefully limit
your calls to five minutes or less. The operator will be instructed to enter the conversation after five minutes and ask you to terminate the call if other users are waiting. If you
anticipate a need for a longer conversation, please arrange it with the operator before
placing the call. Thank you.
