John H. Scalf, Jr. has been elected president of the Stetson Credit Union, succeeding
Ralph Becker who served for four years.
Scalf was elected January 26 at a meeting of the Board of Directors, immediately
following the Credit Union annual meeting in the Carlton Union Building.
Four other board members-Ralph Harper, Chauncey Elkins, Mrs. Wallace Shearon,
and Jack Fortes-were re-elected to offices held last year. Harper is vice president, Elkins
is treasurer, Mrs. Shearon is secretary, and Fortes is education committee chairman.
Mrs. Frances Hann, University Housekeeper, was elected to a vacant post on the Credit
Committee and will serve with committee members Everette Johnson and Marvin Emerson.
Re-elected to the Supervisory Committee were Daniel E. O'Keefe, Graves Edmondson
and Theodore W. Beiler.
The Stetson Credit Union was organized in 1957 and has paid a five per cent dividend
each year.
Robert Sherer of our American Studies Department is now Dr. Sherer, having received his Ph. D.
from the University of North Carolina. His oral took place-5n January 14, 1970. Our
congratulations to Dr. Robert Sherer! !
