Dr. Gilbert Lycan has been appointed to be University mace bearer to serve at official
convocations and will commence his duties with the baccalaureate on May 31.
The Supplemental Life Insurance Plan available through the Annuity Board of Southern
Baptist Convention, will be closing in June. Information and announcements were made
in the fall. This announcement is the promised warning on the closing of the enrollment.
Applications can be forwarded from the University only until May 20, 1970. Details from
Bryon Gibson or H. G. Edmondson.
Wednesday's chapel will be a service using contemporary language and music, particularly
popular idioms like rock and blues. Music will be by the Collegium Musicum.
On Tuesday, May 19 at 8:30 a.m. there will be a meeting in the Intern Lab for returning
interns to meet and talk with personnel representatives from nine Florida counties. Graudate
students and any prospective teachers are invited to attend this meeting.
Rod Taylor, a recent English major, gave a reading of his poetry at the University of Florida
on Wednesday evening, May 13. Rod was a 1969 Woodrow Wilson designate, and currently
holds a fellowship in creative writing at Stanford University, where he is to become a
lecturer in creative writing next year.
The following students missed classes from 12:00 on Friday, May 8 to participate in a
varsity golf match at Rollins College in Winter Park: Martin Satava, Wayne Brassey, Jim
Ross, Steve Lent, Pete Williams, Walt Ketcham.
The following ROTC cadets were absent from classes on May 6 taking physical examinations
at Jacksonville, Florida: Harland C. Merriam, Jr. . and Barry V. Brassard.
