Those who remember Joe Sutton, formerly Professor of Psychology here, will be
interested to know that he has just been named Vice President for Institutional Analysis
at the University of Alabama.
SOCIOLOGY PROFESSOR TO SPEAK AT MIAMI CONFAB
Dr. Das Kelley Barnett, Stetson University associate professor of sociology, has been
slated to read a paper, "William James, Existential-Phenomenological Philosopher9"
at the annual meeting of the Florida Philosophical Association in Miami, November 7.
The paper in part constitutes the first chapter of a book Professor Barnett is currently
writing on William James. Professor Robert Loftin of the department of philosophy will
also attend the Miami meeting.

Stetson's Debate Team travelled October 24th-26th in order to participate in a tournament at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Thirty-three colleges and universities
were involved with 33 negative and 33 affirmative teams.
Bob Bugg and Chobee Ebetts won the 2nd place position for a negative team giving Stetson
a trophy, the first since 1965. Bruce Rose and Anne Insley tied for 6th place for an
affirmative team.
On the number of speaker points, Bob Bugg took 8th and Chobee Ebetts placed 9th in the
33 affirmative teams. Out of a total of 132 speakers, Bob Bugg ranked 9th and Chobee
Ebetts earned 12th place for their accumulation of speaker points.
