Dr. T. Wayne Bailey, a member of the Volusia County Charter and Study Cornmissi°n> ^as
prepared a working paper entitled "The Modernization of County Government" for the Committee
on Goals and Alternatives, of which he is chairman. The Volusia County Charter and Study
Commission will recommend a plan for the reorganization of county government which will be
submitted to the voters for their approval some time next year.

A committee ofthe Faculty Senate, consisting of Professors Hague, Armour, and Kuenzel,
met on November J.8 with the Trustee Committee which is searching for a new president of the
University. The Senate Committee made preliminary recommendations to the Trustees on thirty
five individuals. The Trustees declared that they were ready to proceed with deliberate speed
in the matter of selecting a President. They are, now engaged in the process of conducting
preliminary interviews. When these have been completed ttiere will be an opportunity for Senate
representatives and administrative officials of the University to interview candidates who are
under serious consideration. The Senate Committee feels tfrat the November 18th session was a
constructive and valuable meeting. Professors Armour and Hague wil,l be available in the
auditorium of Elizabeth Hall immediately following the chapel service on Wednesday, December
to answer any questions members of the faculty may have.
