IMPORTANT NOTICE: As it has been traditional in the past, classes will terminate at
12:00 on Friday, February 28, for Homecoming. Classes will resume, as regularly
scheduled, Monday morning, March 3.
Professor Sydney Hook of the philosophy department of NYU will give the annual Stetson
Lectures in Contemporary Affairs on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, February 25 and
26, at 8:00 p.m. in Elizabeth Hall Auditorium. Professor Hook is chairman (President
Hayakawa of San Francisco State is vice-chairman) of an organization concerned with
maintaining "militant moderation" and freedom on our campuses. His overall topic will
be "Academic Freedom and Academic Anarchy. "
Professor Hook will appear on the WDBO (Channel 6) "Central Florida Showcase" Saturday,
March 1.
The following missed classes February 19 and 20 to attend an Alpha Kappa Psi Convention
in Atlanta: William Goldman, Craig Smith, Robert Toury, Sam McLaughlin
The following students missed classes February 20 through 22 while attending the Florida
State University Debate Tournament in Tallahassee: Margo Mitts, Pat Wilkinson, Bruce
