IMPORTANT NOTICE RE SPRING BREAK: At the request of the Student Senate and Student
Affairs Committee, Hatter Holiday which was scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 1969, has
been canceled. Instead of this holiday in the middle of the week, Wednesday, April 2, will be
added to the Easter vacation. This holiday will now begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1,
and end at 8:00 a. m. on Tuesday, April 8.
The Religious Life Council will sponsor a Passover Seder. The date is Tuesday, April 8 at
6:00 p. m. Reservations are to be made in the B.S. U. Office. The cost is $1. 00 and the
reservations deadline is April 1.
Pamela J. Morris, a junior Biology major, presented a paper, "Helminth Parasites of
Florida Turtles", before the Florida Academy of Sciences, March 14, in Gainesville, Florida.
This study is a continuation of Parties 1968 winter term research under the direction of Dr.
Fred E. Clark.
It is most unusual for an undergraduate to present a paper before the academy. At the conclusion of her report the chairman suggested that the senior members might well emulate
the excellence of her presentation. Congratulations, Pam!
Denis R. Furman, a senior physics student, 'recently presented a paper at the Florida Academy
of Sciences meeting held at the University of Florida March 13-15, 1969. The paper, which
'111 be submitted shortly for publication to the' American Geophysical Union, was entitled,
Electron Density Profiles Deduced from Multiple Frequency Measurements of Cosmic Noise
Absorption, " by D. R. Furman and A. T. Jusick. Mr. Furman has been working under the
supervision of Dr. A. T. Jusick on a senior research thesis initiated this year by the ' etson
University Department of Physics.
At the regular meeting of the Faculty Senate, held on the College of Law campus at St. Petersburg, March 4, reports were received from the Admissions and Financial Aid Committee
(Senator DeLap), full report submitted to the General Faculty, from the -Parking Committee
(Senator Schultz) concerning audit of books and recommendations for next year, from Senate
recommendations on Honorary Degrees (Senator Schultz), and from the Senate Committee on
Policies and Procedure for Invitations Issued to Speakers from Campus Organizations
(Senator Minter). The majority of the meeting was devoted to a preliminary report from the
Educational Policies Committee (Senator Hague) concerning the proposed program in establishing the Brevard Center. A completed written report from this committee will be submitted to
the General Faculty.
