Don't forget Parents' Weekend, which will be held on March 21-23. The Faculty-Administration
Coffee Hour will be Saturday, March 22, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Your attendance is urged.
Faculty and students are invited to attend an open house author's party for Dr. Gilbert Lycan,
to be held in the Bookstore at 7 p.m., Monday, March 17. Refreshments will be served. Dr.
Lycan will autograph all copies of his TWELVE MAJOR TURNING POINTS IN AMERICAN
HISTORY sold during the party, and the publisher will allow a 30% discount from the usual
retail price of the book on all copies sold during the party.
Dennis Furman, a senior physics student, has just been awarded a research fellowship lot
next summer at the Atomic Energy Commission's Argonne National Laboratory. Stipend
for this is $600 plus $120 travel allowance. This fellowship represents a spot for Dennis
in the Summer Student Program at that laboratory which has been won against keen competition
from many, many fine senior physics students from throughout the country. Congratulations
to Dennis and to us !
Many thanks to the faculty of natural sciences for their hard work during the past weekend
when we were hosts to a number of high school science teachers. Special thanks go to Dr.
Jusick for his work in coordinating the activities and meetings.
Material that nseds to be moved by the Housekeeping Department will be taken care of the
following day or as soon as possible. It is seldom possible to have these moves made the
same day requested unless it is an emergency.
