As has been the long standing custom, the December 31 salaried payroll will be deposited early.
Salary deposits will be made to your local bank account during our business day, December 20,
but will be credited by the bank on Monday, December 23.
The Faculty Senate met in regular session, Tuesday, December 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the SUB
private dining room.
The Chairman of the Academic Council, Senator Master, presented a proposed calendar shift
moving the short semester from winter to spring. It was moved that the Senate recommend
that the University experiment with this shift during the academic year 1969-70, while the
Academic Council continues to study the matter. The motion was defeated. It was moved and
passed that the Senate recommend the continuation of the present calendar during the acadt,-r* '■ Y
year 1969-70, that the Academic Council continue its discussion, and that no change be eff'"-c
without the approval of the general faculty.
Senator DeLap, Chmn. of the Admissions Committee, reported that the University now has a
pool of 257 applications for admission and that 40 students have been admitted on early decision
The Vice-President, Senator Ed Coolidge, announced that the Senate Executive Committee
and Senators Hague, DeLap, and Dickson will meet with the Trustees Committee dealing with
Academic Freedom on December 9.
Senator Hague announced that the Educational Policies Committee has begun its discussions
of the Graduate Program.
There has been a change in the library committee, as follows: Mr. Dudley Yates is an ex
officio member of the committee, and Dr. Bryan Gillespie is chairman.
