PLEASE NOTE: The speaker at the University Worship Service on Wednesday, April
17 is Dr. Howard Chadwick, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Orlando. His topic
will be "The High Cost of Subscribing to Playboy. "
The following telegram was sent on April 8 to Mrs. Martin Luther King from the Faculty
Senate:
Our deepest syixipathy is extended to you at this time of
tragedy and bereavement. May the triumph of Dr. King's
faith and life sustain you and challenge all America. May
his dream of social justice and human dignity for all
Americans be realized in our generation. No greater
epitaph could be found to symbolize the life and death of
Dr. King.
The Stetson University Department of Art has been selected by the Board of Directors of
the American Watercolor Society to receive a $250 scholarship. This scholarship will
be awarded during the academic year 1968-69, to a student showing unusual skill in the
watercolor medium. The student will be selected by the art department faculty of
Stetson. This is the first time Stetson has been so honored by the Society that has had
Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, and Edward Hopper as members and celebrated
its 100th anniversary in 1966. Professor Fred Messersmith is a member of the American Watercolor Society, and announced the award.
