COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS FACULTY MEETING -- Tuesday March 19, 7:00 p.m.
To permit full discussion in relatively small groups, Sciences and Library members
are asked to meet in the Stetson Room; Humanities and Education in the Private Dining
Room. As agenda, both groups will discuss the remaining recommendations of the
Winter Term Report. Please bring your copy of the report with you.
Following the general faculty meeting on Tuesday night, President Geren has announced
that the 1968-69 academic year will include a winter semester. He has appointed a
Special Committee on the Winter Term to determine the changes to be made and specific
dates to be set. The committee members are Deans Langston, Furlong, Allen, and
Chauvin. Faculty members Harold Schultz and Harland Merriam, students Bill Gaventa
and Rachael Rajchel. Dean Allen will serve as chairman.
The Federal Service Entrance Exam will be given on campus on Saturday, March 30th
in the School of Business Lecture Room. The General Test will be gwen at 8:30 a.m. ;
the Management Internship Test at 1:00 p. m. Students should take both tests in preparation for Federal employment at all levels, including the Diplomatic Corps. Please encourage students to file FSEE applications early at the Placement Office, SUB, 208,
any morning.
Exemption Tests for G 105 and G106 will be given as follows: G 105, Thursday, April
1.1, at 2:30 p.m. ; G 106, Thursday, April 18, at 2:30 p.m. Both tests will be held in
Room 10L.
Dean William R. Baggett passed his examination on March 13 for his Ed. D. Degree in
Counseling, Guidance, and Educational Psychology at the University of Alabama. The
degree will be awarded on May 26. Our congratulations to Bill!
Dr. Morris Reagan, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, has just received a $3000 grant
from the Research Corporation in support of a project entitled "Organic Azides as
Prospective Reagents for the Reductive Deamination of Primary Aliphatic Amines. " The
budget provides for several items of special laboratory equipment and for a one-year
student assistanship for which Marion Mathews, a Stetson Chemistry major, has been
chosen.
