All faculty members are reminded that they are expected to be present in the academic
procession in the appropriate costume for the baccalaureate service and graduation exercises on June 2 unless they have been excused in writing by their respective dean. Now
is the time to make the necessary repairs or dry cleaning gesture on or about your
academic costume.
There will be a reception in the Faculty Lounge for Paul Parker on Wednesday morning,
May 22, from 10:30 to 11:30. You probably know that Paul has resigned from his position
as Executive Director of the Associated Mid-Florida Colleges, Inc. , to work toward his
doctorate at FSU and that he will be leaving our campus around the end of this month.
For the benefit of the newcomers to Stetson, Paul served as Director of Admissions here
for several years prior to accepting the AMFC position. We hope you will be able to
attend.

The English Department announces two more awards for graduate study toward the Ph. D.
Dennis Ripley has won an NDEA fellowship for three years at the University of Georgia.
Larry Lustig has been awarded an assistantship at the University of Florida.
Good news on insurance. The College of Law has voted 13 of 15 for the $10, 000 term insurance recommended by the Faculty Senate, with the two dissenters willing to take the in
surance if necessary to put the plan into operation. The count on campus has jumped
to 65, with several willing to vote yes also if needed to inaugurate the program. Only a
few more will make it possible to put the coverage into effect before the hazards of summer travel. Questions maybe referred to Graves Edmondson, Bill Anderson, or Byron
Gibson.
On Monday night between 6:45 p.m. and 9:00 p. m. , 6 May, 188 students attended the
ROTC Junior-Senior banquet. Obviously all cannot be named for class absences but
request consideration be given if absences are so explained.
The following students were absent from classes on Wednesday, 15 May, undergoing medical
examinations at JAX NAS: Carl L. Harris; James W. Sutherland; Lawrence L. Wilbert;
Thomas R. Tubbs.
