*THE CALKINS LECTURES the week of March 12 will be given by Dr. Samuel E. Stumpf
of Vanderbilt University on the theme "Moral Man in Society." Scheduled for Monday
through Thursday evenings in Allen Hall at 8:00, these addresses should be considered
one of the "musts" of the academic year. Dr. Stumpf is an unusually provocative
speaker and should bring both light and warmth.
AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS. All tape recorders, moving picture and other portable projectors
screens, etc., owned by the University, although on deposit in various departments,
are the property of the University as a whole and are for the use of those faculty
members who need them to improve classroom instruction. This notice is to remind
all members of the faculty that Mr. Merriam acts as the duly authorized liaison agent
for this Office in arranging for such use of equipment needed by any faculty member.
The only legitimate ground upon which a question may be raised concerning the propriety of such usage is when a given piece of equipment is specifically scheduled
previously.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR ELIZABETH HALL: Since the installation of the electronic
fire alarm equipment has been completed, every classroom in Elizabeth Hall has had
a sign placed on the wall indicating the proper fire exit from that room. Each
faculty member is hereby requested to discuss this matter with each of his classes
meeting in this building and to inform this office that he has done so. Please
return the tear-off at the bottom of the page this week. Remind your classes that:
1. The exits from various rooms are different;
2. The purpose of their being so arranged is to take the pressure off the
central stairway;
3. That every student should fix in his mind what direction he will take from
each room;
4. If a fire drill is called (three bells) proceed quietly and carefully out
by the designated route;
5. In case of fire, the electronic alarm will be immediately followed by three
bells on the regular bell system.

case of fire.
