TO STETSON ALUMNI AND FORMER STUDENTS EVERYWHERE:
It is my happy privilege to join the Alumni Secretary, J. M. Albrit-
ton, Jr., in extending an invitation to every graduate and former
student of Stetson to attend Homecoming, November 15 and 16. You
will be greeted by 1,623 students, the present enrollment, and 103
faculty members. The Homecoming program will begin Friday Evening,
November 15, with the play in the Stover Little Theatre and will Include various breakfasts Saturday morning; a Memorial Chapel service
at which Judge J. Ollie Edmunds, L'28, will be the speaker; the
alumni meeting; the luncheon In the Forest of Arden; the parade;
and the football game between Stetson and Rollins. The game will
be followed by the President's Tea in Chaudoin Parlors and open
house In all dormitories. Come if you can and help us make this
Stetson's greatest Homecoming.

THIS ISSUE of the Stetson Newsletter is being mailed to approximately 1000 alumni and former students. It is our plan to extend the
mailing list to Include everyone who ever attended the Academy or
University. To do this we must know present addresses, married
names of alumnae (as well as the name under which they were enrolled)
and loads of other information. You can help by asking all Stetson-
ites to drop us a card or letter requesting that they be placed on
the mailing list. Do this TODAY. We intend to omit no one, but
the incompleteness of our files makes us unsure of the majority of
addresses.
DEAN G. PRENTICE CARSON, LLD'15, DIES. On Thursday, July 18, 1946,
Stetson suffered one of the greatest losses in its history - Dean
Emeritus G. Prentice Carson died at his home In DeLand. He was
know to thousands of Stetson graduates and non-graduates throughout the nation for his record of service to Stetson University. He
had been connected with the school since 1887.

DR. GORDIS HAS RETIRED. Dr. Warren Stone Gordis, beloved by many
generations of Stetson students, has retired from the faculty of
the university after 44 years of faithful service to the school. Dr.
Gordis came to Stetson in 1888 as a professor of Latin and Greek.
In addition to his duties as professor, Dr. Gordis was librarian
for the university for his first ten years. The only degree conferred by Dr. Gordis during his years at Stetson was granted to
Prof. Harry S. Winters in the spring of 1896, while acting as president of the university. He has been appointed Professor Emeritus
of Greek. Dr. Gordis plans to remain in DeLand at his home at 642
North Hayden Avenue.
