The Diamond Jubilee Convocation and
Homecoming, combined to give alumni and
friends of the University an opportunity
to help plan for the Stetson of the Space
Age, will be observed Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday, November 14, 15, and 16, 1958.
With such internationally-known speakers as Billy Graham, Harold Stassen, and
Brooks Hays, the Convocation and Homecoming program is expected to attract to
the campus the largest crowd in the history of Florida's oldest university.
The Convocation theme is "Changeless
Values in a Changing Age." It will come
in for discussion at meetings of educators,
churchmen, alumni, and friends of Stetson. On every hand there will be evidence
of many accomplishments of the University since it was founded in 1883. There
also will be opportunity offered for everyone to have a part in planning for the future.
Acceptances by Billy Graham, Harold
Stassen and Brooks Hays to speak assured
the Convocation Steering Committee of a
capacity crowd, probably the largest ever
to attend an event in DeLand.
Under the capable direction of Earl W.
Brown, convocation chairman, and the
steering committee composed of the various
committee chairmen, Convocation planning
has been assumed largely by DeLand residents.
Chairman Brown is being assisted by J.
Phil Wahle, program chairman; Uriel
