JUSTICE SEBRING
INVITED TO BE
LAW SCHOOL DEAN
Justice H. L. "Tom" Sebring, a member of the Florida Supreme Court since
IC'43, has been invited to become dean
of the College of Law, according to
Dr. J. Ollie Edmunds, president of the
university, said today.
"We have long known of Justice Se-
bring's keen interest in training young-
lawyers and of his desire to see an opportunity for practicing attorneys to
continue their education," Dr. Edmunds
said. "We are hopeful that he will see
in our invitation an opportunity to do
both of these and round out an already
distinguished law career.
"With the experience Judge Sebring
has acquired over the years as a teacher, football coach, lawyer, circuit judge,
member of the Nazi War Crimes Court
at Nurnberg, and Supreme Court justice, he could be in position to make an
immediate contribution to Florida's
oldest and newest college of law. He
could help us make it one of the most
interesting law colleges in America."

Pass Bar Examination
Nine of ten Stetson candidates taking the March examination of the
Florida Bar were successful in passing, according to Visiting Dean Charles
J. Hilkey.
"This gives Stetson a record of 90 9r
passed," Dean Hilkey said, "a very fine
record indeed."
The first summer session of the College of Law on its new campus at St.
Petersburg opened June 13 with approximately 65 enrolled.
Registration for the Fall Session will
be held September 16 and 17 with
classes to start September 19'.

1955 HOMECOMING
DATES SET FOR
NOVEMBER 18-20
Homecoming 1955 will be observed
November 18, 19 and 20 with a program of events being prepared with
the sole purpose of being the greatest
celebration in the history of the University.
Coordinator of the many committees
from alumni, students, and townspeople is G. E. "Eddie" Gilliland, director of alumni affairs.
The principal events of homecoming
will be set up first and others will be
added to provide a complete program
for every former student.
A leadership dinner Friday night, a
vounc' of breakfasts, convocation, barbecue, football game and open houses
Saturday, and homecoming services in
all DeLand churches on Sunday are
events being discussed for the advance
program.
The Class of 19'05 will return for its
Golden Jubilee Reunion and the Class

Hatter Dedicated
To Eddie Gilliland
The 1955 Hatter, year book of the
University, was dedicated to G. E.
"Eddie" Gilliland, director of alumni
affairs and director of development.
"Mr. Gilliland has made unbelievable progress with the University
alumni re^tions" in two years, the citation said. The citation also mentioned
the excePent program for 1954 Homecoming, the reunion of the 1927 football team, United Stetson Alumni and
other forward steps taken in recent
months.
