A Message from the Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations
T[he first Stetson Weekend (Homecoming/Reunion) of the dawning new
century was held on Feb. 4-6. We registered 600 alumni and estimate
that our total crowd size was 1,000. Classes celebrating reunions were
1990,1985,1980,1975,1970,1965,1960,1955,1950and 1945. An
exuberant crowd welcomed the class celebration on Saturday morning,
Feb. 5. A state-of-the-university address by President Doug Lee was followed by an
award-winning video that will be used to promote Stetson to its many publics.
Stetson continues to move forward with improved facilities, state-of-the-art
equipment, a more diverse faculty, and well-qualified students. The endowment is
now above $ 128 million and the campus is more beautiful than ever.
John, '70, and Sandy, '72, Furches ended their term as co-presidents of the
Alumni Association and passed the gavel to our new leader, Robin Blanton, '73, '77.
Robin is an attorney with Moss, Henderson, Blanton, et al, in Vero Beach.
If you missed our weekend this year, please make your plans now for Jan. 26-28,
2001. We will honor those classes ending in 1 and 6, i.e., 1991,1986, etc.

Deans host alumni gatherings

^^^^^ three DeLand campus schools
M ^^ was a series of receptions
JL ^^hosted by the dean of each
school. The receptions gave alumni an
opportunity to share in celebrating the success
of the schools and learn about future plans.
At the business school reception, held in
the lobby of the Lynn Business Center, School
of Business Administration Dean Paul
Dascher updated attendees on "The School
of Business Administration in the New
Millennium." He explained that the school is
embarking on an exciting period in its history,
propelled by a recent gift earmarked to
renovate the Eugene M. and Christine Lynn
Business Center, which houses the School of
Business Administration. Christine Lynn of
Boca Raton has donated $ 10 million in
