Stetson Will Cooperate With Duke On Forestry Program

1953 Summer Session Features Short Courses
For Public School Teachers; Begins June 22
Stetson's 1953 Summer Session, featuring short courses for public school
teachers, will open June 22 and close
August 14.
The three-weeks courses open June
29 and July 20. Courses include Survey
of Guidance, Occupational Guidance,
Audio Visual Methods and Teaching
Art in the Elementary Grades. Three
semester hours credit is given for each
period.
The nine-weeks courses are designed
to meet certification requirements for
elementary and secondary teachers, administrators and supervisors.
A full program of courses are available for entering freshmen.
Courses are offered for those doing
graduate work.
Five Year Course Gives
Student Two Degrees
Stetson will offer for the first time
this fall a course in forestry in cooperation with the School of Forestry of
Duke University.
Upon successful completion of a five
year coordinated course of study, the
student will have earned the bachelor
of science degree from Stetson and the
professional degree of Master of Forestry from Duke.
The student electing to pursue this
course spends the first three years in
residence at Stetson. The last two years
are devoted to the professional forestry
curriculum of his choice at Duke.
Stetson Approved For
AAUW Membership
Stetson has been approved for membership in the American Association of
University Women.
This recognition makes graduates
with approved degrees eligible to affiliate with local branches of this important international organization. The
AAUW was organized in 1892 with the
purpose of increasing the opportunities
of women in education.
Stetson degrees which will be recognized by AAUW are bachelor of arts,
bachelor of science, bachelor of music,
bachelor of science in business administration and all masters degrees.
Recognition by AAUW does not mean
that holders of these degrees automatically become members. Those desiring
membership should apply to their nearest local branch.
