Lee Named to Development Post
Dr. H. Douglas Lee assumed his duties as vice president for development at Stetson last
month. He succeeds W. Michael Chertok who resigned in June to take a position with the
University of Louisville.
Dr. Lee served as university relations director at Wake Forest University from 1973 until he
came to Stetson. He headed Wake Forest's corporate and foundation fund raising. He had a
primary role in the successful completion of Phase I of that university's capital campaign and
served as development coordinator for Phase II.
"Dr. Lee has excellent experience in the field of university development, and this, together
with a strong academic background, seems an ideal combination for Stetson with its established educational reputation," Stetson president Dr. Pope A. Duncan pointed out. "We will
face many challenges and opportunities in the future, and Dr. Lee shares with us the enthusiasm we feel in welcoming these coming years. We have been impressed with both Doug
and his wife, Margaret."
The Danville, Va., native earned a B.A. in English from the University of Richmond and both
bachelor's and master's degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He received a doctorate from the University of Iowa in Christian ethics.
Prior to his position at Wake Forest, he served on Virginia Intermont College's faculty and
was director of educational development and director of church relations at that school.
The new Stetson administrator has been a frequent consultant for industries in North Carolina in the fields of communications, time management and motivation. He has been a lecturer in the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest.
"Lee comes to Stetson at a time we are setting our sights on the observation of our Centennial and the many challenges that will come during our second hundred years," Dr. Duncan
explained.
Lee and his wife have two children, Gregory — six and Elizabeth — four.
Alumni Accounts in Arrears
Stetson alumni directory accounts totaling
more than $14,000 remain unpaid, according
to the Bernard C. Harris Publishing Co.
Alumni ordered the directories from the
publisher, who shipped the books in May. A
company representative indicated volumes
were mailed to all alumni who ordered them
including those not prepaid.
The publisher cooperated fully with the
alumni association in the publication of the
volume and urges alumni who have not paid
their accounts to do so in order that the company "may close out all specifications on this
directory project."
The company also expresses its thanks to
those alumni who paid promptly.

Stetson Lawyers Elect Officers
John R Wilkerson, '49, Eustis, was elected
president of the Stetson Lawyers Association
at an annual meeting, at The Florida Bar convention in June. He succeeds Philip Haddock, '47.
Other officers elected were: vice president

treasurer — Thomas Marks, Jr., '63, St.
Petersburg.
Alumni also elected 19 members to the association's board of directors. These include

Florida Bar Honors Three
Three Stetson alumni were among the 50-year members honored at The Florida Bar's general assembly June 16 in Hollywood.
Joseph Ginsberg, '28, Daytona Beach; Lena Stromberg, '27, Pompano Beach, and Sledge
T. Tatum, '28, Jacksonville, received certificates commemorating their 50 years as lawyers.
