The Association
Big name entertainment returns
for Stetson's Homecoming.
Cosby started it all last year, but
this year's Saturday concert features
The Association - internationally acclaimed pop rock band.
The performance is scheduled at
3 p.m. in Edmunds Center, according
to J. B. Steelman, chairperson of
Homecoming committee.
"Cherish," The Association's first
million-seller single, received three
Grammy nominations in 1967 followed in 1968 by nominations for
"Windy," "Never My Love" and the
album "Insight Out."
Early hit singles catapulted the
qroup into fame resulting in a decade
of more than 900 concerts and television appearances in the United
States, England, Belgium, Germany
and Holland.
They've received the Record Industry Association of America's Gold
Records (for sales of a million or more
records) for four singles and three
albums.
Not only has The Association performed to rock-oriented audiences,
but the band's successes also include
precedent-setting rock concerts at
Los Angeles' Greek Theatre and Co-
coanut Grove, Cleveland's Blossom
Music Center, the Boston Symphony's
Tanglewood, Saratoga's Performing
Arts Center and the Nebraska State
Fair.

HOMECOMING CONCERT - Stetson's Homecoming
concert features The Association, seven-time Gold Record artists, at 3 p.m. Saturday in Edmunds Center. The
pop rock band's musical style has been called "pure
mastery," and they've gained international standing
through concerts and television appearances throughout
the United States and Europe.
Among their best selling singles
are: "Along Comes Mary," "No Fair
at All," "Goodbye, Columbus," "Bring
Yourself Home" and "Darling Be
Home Soon."
Steelman indicates the Homecoming committee has succeeded with
this year's concert in continuing
Cosby's tradition of top-notch entertainment for both alumni and students.
The Association's attendance-
record appearances attest to their
"something for all ages" style.

Bicentennial Year Homecoming
Alumni Awards Presentation
Scheduled Saturday Morning
Distinguished Alumni Service and
the Doyle E. Carlton awards will be
presented during Stetson's Alumni
Association annual meeting Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at Elizabeth Hall
Auditorium, according to association
president Ken Kirchman, '58.
Kirchman indicates awards are
made to individuals who have contributed time and energy to the association and the university.
The president also points out mem
bers of the class of 1951 will receive
quarter-century pins during the meeting. Other classes scheduling Homecoming reunions are 1956, 1961 and
1966.
Reports on this past year's projects
are scheduled as are discussions of
future association plans.
President-elect Stan Marks, '55,
Miami, will be installed as 1976-77
alumni president during the morning
meeting.
The United States' Bicentennial focuses attention on the success of the
nation's 200-year history since the
foundations were laid.
Homecoming focuses on Stetson
Spirit 76 — exciting, positive, relevant - but most of all, fun.
This year's Homecoming committee plans a special registration and information tent open from 10 a.m. to
6 p.m. Friday and all-day Saturday.
Friday's afternoon schedule is
packed with alumni and student
sports activities.
Evening plans include four school
dinners — business, law, liberal arts
and music. Just the right setting for
swapping news with former professors and classmates. Later the Stetson Symphony Orchestra has scheduled a concert, Stover Theatre presents William Shakespeare's "As You
Like It" and alumni and students
gather at Edmunds Center for the
Homecoming dance.
Saturday begins early with the Hatter Club and Athletes breakfast, a
Ministerial Association breakfast, tennis tournament finals, president's
brunch, alumni association annual
meeting, Stetson Homecoming Festival, barbecue and reunions.
