Student input sought STUDENTS this fall will have the opportunity to react to task force reports on two major campus issues, delayed rush for Greek organizations and revision of the alcohol possession and use policy. Both reports are the result of year-long studies by groups of students, faculty members, and administtatots. The decision on delayed rush will be made administratively; any changes in the alcohol policy will require action by the Board of Trustees. Dr. James Beasley, vice president for campus life, said input by all segments of the campus will be sought this fall, with a decision on delayed rush possible by November. He expects no action on the alcohol policy before next spring. New programs widen choices STUDENTS' choices of study areas will be increased by two this fall with the introduction a new major and a minor. Latin American Studies has been strengthened and expanded from a minor to a major, with Dt. John Schotr, sociology, as chair. An interdisciplinary program similar to Russian Studies, the new major draws on faculty from economics, foreign languages, geography, history, political science, and sociology. The new minor, Applied Ethics, also crosses department lines — philosophy, communication studies, religion, management, and teacher education — to offer a series of courses dealing with ethical concerns. Dr. Rob Brady, philosophy, is chair. Off to good start THE IN ITI AL Senior Send -Off Campaign resulted in $10,000 in gifts and pledges for the Legacy of '94 Endowed Scholarship Fund.
